A family flying with United Airlines was kicked off their flight when their 2 year-old daughter refused to wear a mask.
The couple had boarded a flight from Colorado to New Jersey, but were removed before take-off by a United Airlines staff member, despite explaining how they had repeatedly attempted to put the mask on their daughter.
Eliz Orban, the mother of two-year-old Edeline, told her Instagram followers: “Today, we were asked to leave the plane after it had rolled out, and they had to bring it back to the gate because our two-year-old daughter would not ‘comply’ and keep her mask on.”
“And we’re banned off United forever because a two-year-old would not put on a mask,” Orban claimed. The airline however has denied banning the couple from flying with them again.
Orban’s video shows the couple trying mask their daughter, but eventually a staff member comes down the aisle to tell them to disembark.
“Hello sir. I’m going to have to ask you to grab your belongings and exit the aircraft,” the airline staffer says.
The child’s father replies, “You gotta be kidding me. Why? We’re over here holding this mask on her face.”
He is then told: “I’m sorry sir. I gave you an opportunity. I’ve got to ask you to get off this plane.”
The family are told they are in violation of Covid-19 compliance rules.
“We can’t force her,” Ms Orban explains onboard. “She’s literally holding it, and she’s crying.”
“I am still sitting here in confusion, disbelief, disgust, and humiliation,” Ms Orban told her followers just after the incident.
United Airlines says the matter is being investigated, whilst the family has been refunded and their belongings returned.
