4,600 candidates from 139 countries are to be made Irish citizens during 5 citizenship ceremonies on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 June at the Gleneagle in Killarney – bringing to almost 235,000 the number of people who have received Irish citizenship since 2011.
Last month. the Minister for Justice declined to whether Ireland’s citizenship rules should be tightened, while acknowledging that the country’s naturalisation system is currently “on the more liberal side”.
