Labour TD Conor Sheehan has extended an invitation to TDs, Senators and Oireachtas staff for a workshop on “Meditation for Leadership Resilience” to mark International Yoga Day on tomorrow, 24 June.
The session is set to be delivered by Shree Shivkrupanand Swamiji, who is described in the invitation as “a globally recognised meditation teacher, spiritual guide, and member of the Expert Committee of the World Meditation Foundation.”
The information provided to Oireachtas members states that Swamiji has previously led meditation and wellbeing engagements in a number of international institutional settings.
These include a programme at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna in 2025, where he delivered a session on inner peace and collective wellbeing, and an appearance at the UK Parliament in 2024, where he was recognised as a Global Peace and Wellness Ambassador.
The invitation also notes that he has conducted sessions in other national parliaments, including those in Germany, India, and Sri Lanka.
The Oireachtas based workshop will begin with a 30‑minute discourse on the “true essence of yoga” and the role of mindfulness in supporting mental wellbeing and leadership resilience.
This will be followed by a 15‑minute practical meditation session, after which a short Q&A is scheduled.
Guests were also directed to two external websites offering further information on Himalayan meditation practices and material described as meditation science.
Himalayan Meditation Ireland – https://himalayanmeditation.
Meditation Science – https://gurutattva.org/vigyan/
It is believed to be the first time in the history of the Oireachtas that elected representatives will engage in a mass yoga meditation event.
