The war in Ukraine, it turns out, could not be solved in 24 hours. The war in Gaza, far from being brought to a swift conclusion, drags on in brutal and heartbreaking fashion. Tomorrow will bring the first US job numbers post the largely aborted “liberation day” tariffs. As I am writing this, the Dow Jones industrial average is down a further 600 points on Wednesday afternoon. Per a Fox News opinion poll released this week, the US President languishes at a 40% approval rating and Democrats have a 7% lead on the generic ballot ahead of next year’s midterms.
Yet, as in every discussion of politics, that is not the full picture.
