“Alarming” clip of Biden struggling to finish sentence goes viral

A clip of US President Joe Biden struggling to complete a sentence and repeating himself has accrued millions of views online, with some viewers dubbing the footage “alarming.”

The clip was posted by Republican Senator for Arkansas Tom Cotton, and was shared thousands of times on Twitter.

In the clip, Biden is discussing the seizure of “ill-begotten” property from Russian oligarchs in light of the Ukraine conflict.

“We’re going to seize their yachts, their luxury homes and other ill-begotten gains” he said.

However, at this point, Biden appeared to struggle to complete the sentence, attempting to reference “Putin’s kleptocracy,” but failing to pronounce the word. He then repeated himself several more times before nervously laughing and saying “These are bad guys.”

Social media viewers were quick to express concern.

“Not a day goes by that alarms aren’t set off,” said one Twitter user.

“Leader of the free world,” said another in apparent disbelief.

Another said it was “painful to watch.

Biden has received significant criticism for his numerous verbal gaffes since he announced his candidacy for the 2020 presidential race.

Some have alleged that Biden is experiencing a cognitive decline, comparing his current speech patterns to older footage from years ago where he appears to sound more lucid.

Biden’s defenders, however, argue that the president has had a stutter since childhood and that this is simply a minor speech impediment.
