Right to Life UK have released a new video asking voters to “vote for life” in today’s General Election as the abortion regime in the UK is called increasingly into question by both sides of the debate.
Whilst Labour and the Liberal Democrats have promised to expand the law to allow greater access to abortion, with the former promising to legalise abortion for any reason up to birth, the Conservative party have remained silent on the issue, with no official party policy being mentioned.
The Tories have however increased contributions to abortion provider Marie Stopes by 1300%, from £3,231,000 in 2006 to £48,173,000 in 2018.
The recent legalisation of abortion in Northern Ireland by Westminster was opposed most vociferously by the DUP, who have stated that their party remains pro-life and will seek to overturn the law if Stormont returns. Right to Life UK described the law as being “the most extreme in Europe.”
Right to Life UK claim over 100 MP candidates have signed their “Both Lives Pledge“.
