Five youths have been arrested following a major public order incident in Virginia yesterday, where local reports say a man was allegedly attacked by a number of individuals, and a number of people assaulted.
Gardaí say a number of people required medical attention and are believed to have been taken to Cavan General Hospital.
Videos of the disorder were shared on social media – while locals expressed fear and upset on Virginia Community pages.
Local media reported that all five youths were arrested and detained over an alleged assault, and that “a significant number of Gardai were swiftly on the scene of the incidents at both Lough Ramor and the Main Street of the town”
Northern Sound reports that a Garda spokesperson said several persons have been conveyed to hospital.
