The Bank Bar in Dublin has issued a mea culpa for sharing accurate information about Ireland’s excessive lockdown, after a gang of left wing activists online falsely called the information “far right.”
Speaking on Twitter, the bar said: “This is not acceptable anymore, we’ve done all that was asked of us. Let us live again. Enough is enough!”, tagging a variety of politicians and industry organisations. With the tweet they shared a map of Europe showing that Ireland is the one and only country in the continent that is closed for indoor dining.

Bear in mind, now, that this map is 100% true and accurate. Do you want to know how you can be sure it’s accurate? Because it was fact checked by the Journal.ie of all people, and found to be “true.”
We've taken a look at the Covid restrictions across Europe and, yes, the vast majority of countries are allowing indoor dining at some level. https://t.co/QzYthv2DpS

Rest assured, if the Journal could find even some tiny nitpick to “debunk” an anti-lockdown argument, they would (after all, they’ve been doing it non-stop since the pandemic began). So nobody disputes the accuracy of this map that the Bank Bar shared.
There’s just one problem for our publican friends however – the Twitter user who originally created the map, Cosain, is anti-lockdown, and therefore stands accused, in the eyes of some social media users, of being “far right”.

“Used to love @thebankbar, but now that they’re helping the far-right I won’t be darkening the door again,” said one tweet with 47 likes.
Now, you need to be mindful that these are the kinds of people who probably think cheese is racist and grass is homophobic, or something. For an idea of this, the same person who posted the above tweet has a pinned post on their timeline – the first thing you see when you visit their feed – saying that UCD, of all places, “supports fascism.” A bit of a broad net, there.

Regardless, if you’d like to check whether or not Cosain is far right, feel free to have a look at his feed below and judge for yourself, we’ll let you make up your own mind.

The point is, the liberal hoard descended on the Bank Bar’s twitter feed to attack them for sharing a piece of true information from what they dubbed “the far-right.” And how did the bar respond? Well, to apologise and bend over backwards to appease:
“Hi apologies, we were sent a map from a colleague,” they said.
“We didn’t realise it was from some far right maniacs. We are the furthest thing from them. Our point was supposed to be that we are still closed and we have huge worries & concerns for our business and staff. Sorry for offence.”

Cosain also responded to the tweet, saying:
“The Bank Bar apologising to leftists who want their business destroyed. They call us “far right maniacs” yet us “maniacs” are the only group who have fought consistently for the right of bars like The Bank to trade freely. You pander to the left you deserve bankruptcy.”

And is that not the whole point? Apparently we’re to believe that people who have fought for the rights of businesses like the Bank are “maniacs,” while the far-left pro-lockdown fanatics whose policies are actively destroying the sector deserve apologies. For what? Exposing them to facts? (I suppose most products do come with allergen warnings, so they could have given a heads up).
We’re in an age where you can be guilty of stating “hate facts” – that is to say things that are 100% true and accurate, and not disputed by anyone, but that you are not allowed to say for whatever reason. I mean, does it even matter if it was bloody Osama Bin Laden who created the map? Is that the point? Is it true and a good point or is it not?
The Left by and large are pro-lockdown zealots who hate private business and have spent the last 16 or so months trying actively to destroy it. If you throw out the truth, and your biggest advocates in an attempt to pander to these people, you frankly deserve everything you get.
