Unofficial tallies from the Seanad election (NUI Panel) are looking good for the sitting senators according to the campaign team of Rónán Mullen.
There are three seats to be filled on the panel which requires a quota of 25%.
After 7,200 votes tallied (approximately 20% of the total) Senator Mullen’s campaign says he has received approximately 22%, while Senator and former Minister for Justice Michael McDowell is expected to top the poll and be comfortably elected on the 1st Count.
With allowances for margin of error the percentages for the top five of 12 candidates are as follows: Michael McDowell on 31%, Rónán Mullen on 22%, Alice Mary Higgins on 18%, Eva Dowling on 9%, Ronan Collins on 8%.
