I was reminded this morning of the phrase that my colleague Matt Treacy uses in relation to the endless subjugation of the needs of the Irish people to the demands of the EU, or of multinationals, or of Big Capital, or of our supposed “international obligations”.
The thinking of the establishment, he points out, mirrors the old cliché about General Motors: ‘What’s good for Microsoft [or any Big Tech multinational] is good for the country”. What most of the media, of course, ever fail to examine is what the outcome of that unspoken arrangement actually is.
