The Army bomb disposal team have been called to Donald Trump’s Doonbeg golf hotel in Co Clare after a suspicious package was found there just hours after the U.S. President’s son left.
Staff found a package with white powder shortly after Eric Trump had left, causing the Army, fire brigade and gardaí to attend to deal with the incident at the resort this afternoon.
A Garda spokesperson said: “We are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at a premises in west Clare. There will be no further comment at this time.”
Eric Trump had earlier today posted that the Doonbeg resort will be venue of the Irish Golf Open later this year. He flew had to Davos in Switzerland after leaving the hotel to attend the World Economic Forum.
Last week, the Minister for Sport told the Clare Echo that investment will be needed in West Clare to give the country a strong international impression when The Irish Open takes place in Doonbeg.
