As I reported last Friday, there has been a clear trend over the past two years for former residents of IPAS centres to be moved out of direct provision and into emergency accommodation and from there into private rental accommodation supported by Housing Assistant Payments (HAP) or into social housing provided by the local authority and Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs)
There is sparse information on this aspect of the housing situation other than the recent figures that indicate a much higher proportion of non-Irish people in emergency accommodation, on local authority housing lists and even in the allocation of social housing in Fingal that is proportionate to overall demographics.
