The Spanish government say it will ban transgender athletes who were born male from competing in women’s sports and that only “people with a female biological sex” will be eligible to compete.
The decision was taken at the congress of the ruling Socialist party as an amendment to their draft policy framework was approved. The party also agreed to remove the Q+ from the LGBTQ+ acronym, supporting calls from feminists who oppose the radical approach to transgender issues that had previously been adopted.
