In recent days, RTÉ ran a hand-wringing piece that I was tipped off to about the deep concern an Irish cross-border fund is experiencing as a result of US President Donald Trump’s decision to review almost all of the foreign assistance programmes that currently receive American money.
The International Fund for Ireland (IFI) is an independent organisation jointly established by the British and Irish governments in 1986 with the aim of promoting economic and social development in Northern Ireland and the surrounding border counties, while encouraging “dialogue between nationalists and unionists throughout Ireland”.
