This week’s roundup is coming to you a day early, because as you’re reading this I’m in London, where I’ll be helping to launch Michael Walsh’s new book “Against the Corporate Media” at an event in the Reform Club this evening.
I’ve had a chance to read the book ahead of time, and I’d strongly recommend it: It’s a collection of essays which, when read together, make a compelling case that the media in the United States and across the English-speaking world have done more than probably any other institution to undermine trust and social cohesion in our democracies, largely by abandoning their role as impartial observers, and seeking instead to become participants in the democratic process.
