In a move that has generated controversy in France and further afield, the cross that sits atop a famous Parisian landmark has been removed from its depiction in the official Paris 2024 Olympics poster.
The cross that surmounts Paris’s ‘Dome des Invalides’ – which is famous for being both Paris’s tallest church building and for housing Napoleon’s tomb – has been replaced with a plain spire in French illustrator, Ugo Gattoni’s fantastical depiction of a Paris primed for the Olympic games.
