The mother of missing Irish-Israeli woman Kim Damti says she just wants her daughter back after the young woman went missing over the weekend amid the ongoing insurgence by Hamas militants..
Kim (22) was attending the Nova music festival which was taking place in the Negev Desert near Urim, Israel when it was attacked by what Irish woman Jennifer Damti says were seven or eight Toyota vans “full of terrorists”.
Damti said Kim, who is her youngest child, called her brother from the scene of the incident asking what she should do as the attack unfolded.
She said her brother advised the young woman to find cover but that the phone call last Saturday was the last time the family heard from Kim.
“They just shot everywhere, they just shot them, slaughtered them like ducks,” she said, adding through tears that she wants “the world to condemn this behaviour”.
“I didn’t bring my children up to hate anybody,” she said, telling ABC news that Kim’s father and brother have been going from hospital to hospital in Israel with a hairbrush belonging to Kim hoping that it help them find her through DNA analysis.
Saying that she can’t sleep, Damti said all can think about is where her daughter is and “if she’s suffering” or “if she’s still alive”.
“I just want her back” she said.
Commenting on the news of other young concert goes who have reportedly been taken hostage or have gone missing she said “so many other mothers” shared her pain and that she knew she was “not the only one”.
The Israeli government says militants have taken more than 100 people hostage including woman, children, and the elderly.
25 year old Noah Argamani who was videoed being taken away on a motorbike by a group of Palestinian militants while pleading with them not to kill her.
Her boyfriend, Avinatan Or, was also shown being led away by a group of militants.
30 year old German-Israeli woman Shani Louk is also reported missing. Graphic images showing militants parading the body of a woman on the back of the truck while spitting on the remains and shouting ‘allah akbhar’ were shared online amid speculating that the body is that of Louk.
The speculation arose largely due to leg tattoos on the body which seem to match those of Louk, however this is unconfirmed.
