Minister Norma Foley has said that her Department does not know the total number of hotel rooms currently occupied by asylum seekers and paid for by the state as the data is not “routinely collated”.
The Minister made the admission on the same day that new figures from the Central Statistics Office showed that the number of inbound tourists to Ireland fell during March by 15% to 441,200, with a 23% decrease in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year.
