A Westport-based company will create 150 new technology jobs after raising €8.3 million in a new round of funding.

The payroll tech company, Payslip, which was founded by former Taxback CEO Fidelma McGuirk, will provide the new jobs mostly in software engineering, taking the number of staff employed by the firm to almost 200.

The news is a boost for efforts to establish substantial employment opportunities outside Dublin.

Several international venture capital funds invested in Payslip, according to the Irish Independent, including MiddleGame Ventures, a Luxembourg-based venture capital firm with an office in Dublin, while Irish firms Frontline Ventures and Tribal.vc were also part of the funding round.

Payslip has developed a technology that allows other companies to automate their payroll systems, and has built up a portfolio of multinational customers, including Airbus.

Ms McGuirk said that company was growing fast.

“Where we would have targeted mid-market companies with about 3,000 people, now we have companies coming in with 44,000 people in 35 countries, or 150,000 people in like 70 countries,” she told the Irish Independent.

“Nobody else really does what we do. We’re like the Workday of payroll management. Gartner only recently created a segment for what we do and we lead in it.”
