A leading academic in Ireland has said that he has “self-censored on a number of occasions” as a result of growing intolerance for free expression and difference of opinion on campus, particularly when it comes to hot button topics like gender or sexuality.
Professor of Philosophy at University College Dublin (UCD), Dr Tim Crowley said that at certain college meetings “you get a sense of the room” which discourages dissent from the accepted status quo.
