Confession: When yours truly woke up this morning, it was not my intention to write not one, but two stories about paedophilia in the one day. It’s a messed up world, folks. But them’s the breaks:

British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell has been charged with playing a role in the “sexual exploitation and abuse” of multiple underage girls by Jeffrey Epstein, according to a court filing.

Maxwell, who has kept a low profile since Epstein’s death in August last year, was arrested by the FBI in New Hampshire on Thursday on charges related to the financier.

Good news: Presumably this will put an end to the Epstein conspiracy theories one way or another. If anybody knows what ol’ Jeff was up to, it’s Maxwell. It’s probably in the interests of justice to offer her a half decent plea deal in return for spilling everything she knows about Epstein’s clients – after all, she’s not accused of raping anybody herself. Give her four years or so in an open prison, in return for her little black book and her testimony against the various businessmen, princes, and ex-or-current presidents she might be able to place at the scene of horrendous crimes.

Aside from that, it’s interesting that they nabbed her in New Hampshire. It was widely assumed that she was hiding out in some foreign hidey hole this whole time, but no, she was right under the noses of the FBI.

What took them so long?
