Yesterday the Central Statistics Office, in anticipation of today’s national feast of pancake eating, released a set of figures that were guaranteed space-filler in most national newspapers: The cost of making a pancake has risen 35% in five years:
The CSO said that over the five-year period from December 2020 to December 2025, the cost of 2 litres of full fat milk increased by 72 cent, an increase of 42.6%, while the cost of 2kg of flour rose by 62 cent – up 31.6%.
