In a way, Dún Laoghaire native Sinéad Gibney has come full circle, and ended up right back where she started: as a political campaigner.
In 2020, Gibney was selected as a candidate for the Social Democrats party, and was set to run in the general election that year. However, she withdrew from the race shortly before the poll in order to take up a job as the head of IHREC – the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission – instead.
