The announcement was met with cheers from the House of Commons.
Boris Johnson added that the government had reviewed the date, and that people are no longer being asked to work from home.
He said that once Plan B regulations lapsed next week, the government would no longer mandate face masks “anywhere” – including classrooms.
While government advice would be that face masks should be worn in crowded areas, Mr Johnson said that the government would trust the judgment of British people and no longer criminalize anyone who chooses not to wear one.
GB News reports that “Covid-19 infections have fallen in all regions of England except the north-east and south-west, where the trend is uncertain, the ONS said.”
