While the consensus on work migration is focused on how ‘our economy’ needs skilled people from overseas, the evidence is that work permits are increasingly issued for unskilled and lower paid jobs as young Irish people leave in the tens of thousands.
I have referred to this before and to the fact that the extension of the permit system has been focused on General Employment rather than Critical Skills.
