Between April and May of 2023, the Irish government held a “public consultation” on what would later come to be known as the “Family and Care” referendums. Roderic O’Gorman’s Department of Equality, which organised the consultation process, called on any and all “interested parties” to weigh in with their email submissions, asking people to give their thoughts on the constitutional change being proposed.
