Thank God it’s Friday, or at least that it will be Friday by the time you read this. Truth to be told, it’s not been a great week. The lowlight was my involvement in a car accident the other day in which, blessedly, nobody was injured. My car, on the other hand, was not so lucky and is now facing the same fate that many pensioners in Ireland can look forward to once we finally get around to legalising “assisted dying” or whatever euphemism they’re using these days: It’s gonna be more expensive to keep the car alive than grant it a peaceful end.
In brighter news, the dog’s pregnancy scare, mentioned in this column last week, turned out to be a false alarm. Anyway, you don’t come here to read about my personal life, so let’s kick on:
