Varadkar: “Climate change is the biggest threat facing humanity”

Climate change is “the biggest threat facing humanity,” Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said.

Speaking in the Dáil today, the Fine Gael leader said that a “system change” would be needed, but that much of the impact of climate change has already happened.

“As I’ve said in this House before, I believe that climate change is the biggest threat that’s facing humanity at the moment,” he said, adding: “We have to be the generation of politicians that turns the tide on climate change and also on biodiversity loss.”

He said that this could be achieved “in many ways.”

“First of all, by reducing our emissions,” he said.

“And our greenhouse gas emissions are falling, although not fast enough. However, when you look at greenhouse gas emissions per capita, they have fallen considerably in Ireland in recent years.

“We also need to scale up adaptation because unfortunately so much of climate change has already happened, is baked in, is inevitable. So we need to scale up in terms of adaptation.

“And thirdly, we need to bring something to the table when it comes to what we ask the rest of the world to do, particularly the poorest states and most vulnerable states, some of whom are going to be the worst affected. And we’re doing that through climate finance. And I’ve made that commitment, which we will honour, to provide €225 million a year in climate finance every year by 2025.”

Ireland to give €225m annually to help other countries fight climate change

He said that a “system change” requiring significant investment would be required to tackle the issue.

“What’s required is a system change,” he said.

“I agree with that call. We need to change the way we generate our electricity. We need to change the way that we heat our buildings. We need to change the way that we travel. And we need to change our food systems, too. And that is going to take time and investment.”

He concluded: “Changing systems that took generations to build up in a decade or two is an enormous challenge, and one that is going to both take time and require a lot of investment.”

Meanwhile yesterday, at the UN’s COP28 climate meeting, Climate Minister Eamon Ryan, who is part of the team negotiating at the conference on behalf of the EU, has threatened to abandon an agreement because a draft doesn’t take a strong enough stance on phasing out fossil fuels.

“We can’t have a get out of jail card for the fossil fuel industry, and the current text would give them that.”

He said “We can’t accept this text,” adding: “It’s not anywhere near ambitious enough. It’s not broad enough. It’s not what parties have been calling for.”

Data centres.

Policies designed to double the population through inward migration.

Destroying the countryside – including large areas of arable land – to facilitate the above.
Increasing the likelihood of a move from food independency to dependency.

Destroying the ecologies and civil/political stabiliy of developing countries in order to mine the raw materials for bogus ‘green tech’.

Diesel-powered wind turbines.

Brazilian wood pellets.

Lighting up the entire night-sky with nocturnal wildlife-destroying LEDs.

Sorry, Leo, I don’t believe you.

Do not personalise your relationship with Varadkar by addressing hm by his first name , it enhances him and diminishes you.
Include in your otherwise comprehensive List of Irish Climate change absurdities, should be the Peat imported by diesel guzzling ships from Latvia, while our own peat bogs are neglected.
Thesubstandard beef imported to Ireland from Brazil by over 5000 miles ,by refrigerated diesel guzzling ships.
When Varadkar moves his lips ,you know that we are being covered in BS.
He knows zilch about Climate Science ,and should keep his gob shut.

Well, it’s not surprising that a WEF Global young leader is propagating the narrative of the WEF… is it? One should ask the Expert scientists and not those who fly around in private jets getting all the perks.

Spot on Pat; that’s what he is and that’s what he does.
For a Taoiseach to pursue globalist policy (WEF, UN SDGs, WHO pandemic treaty etc) ahead of the interests of Irish citizens is an act of treason.

Captured, corrupt, compromised.

The final COP28 Joint Statement on Climate, Nature and People.
A tasteless smorgasbord of gobbledygook

Our Taoiseach may be able to fool the 6 million four legged sheep in Ireland and a good few of the two legged variety but more and more are quietly growing more sceptical of the climate alarmist nonsense.

Perhaps this is worth reposting here as also applicable to our Taoiseach:

Is Minister Ryan confused or ignorant?

Is he not aware
There are 30 climate zones and sub-zones with naturally occuring climate changes over millenia before the modern industrial eraThat China and India, together responisible for 36.49% (EDGAR 2022) of CO2 emissions, are massively ramping up coal generationThat CO2 in the atmosphere, excluding water vapour, is only a very small percentage 0.035% (NOAA).That of this percentage Ireland’s CO2 emissions 0.12% (EDGAR 2022) are a drop in the ocean in the atmosphere (0.000042%)That natural gas would be an excellent cheap transition – with far less emissions than coal and oil – to some future economical and reliable source of energyThat renewables, being intermittent and not reliable, would without massive subsidies fail financially
Does Ryan even know the actual percentages?
Would our Minister be prepared to address these 6 points briefly in an honest and carefully reasoned response?
Where is the Minister’s independent cost benefit analysis and feasiblity study for his grand green climate schemes?

Apology to readers. This posting, for some reason has lost much of the formatting.

see the original post under the article RYAN: EU WILL WALK AWAY IF PROPOSED COP28 CLIMATE DEAL NOT CHANGED (11 Dec)

It is much easier read there with the correct formatting

Who is investigating the links between FG/FF and the big Asylum providers. I know of someone who was approached to invest in it but didn’t want his name attached to it. The gangsters in the Goodfellas would be amazed at the audacity of what they have pulled off here.

No its not. The biggest threat, apart from nuclear war, is decreasing CO2 which is already on the low side and could lead to famine. ????

It does not matter what Ryan accepts, it’s what China accepts that counts. Right now they are opening a couple of new coal fired power stations each and every month. So these hot air spoofers at this COP jamboree are going to achieve the square root of fook all.
China and India are going gang busters on coal. Germany has closed is nuclear plants with half of their useful life still ahead of then and brought back lignite coal for electricity production. The US is producing 13 millions barrels of crude per day with Biden in charge. That’s more than ever before. We have this clown Ryan pontificating about cow farts and growing lettuce in window boxes. They are fundamentally unserious people who would rather Wallow in their own virtue than look at solutions that would help.

World Economic Forum young leader and treasonous plant needs removing, Varadkar is a nefarious globalist asset in situ to implement the globalist neo Marxist agenda in Ireland. Ben Scallan should ask Varadkar for the science behind his assertions re “climate change” and how C02 the gas of life is responsible for same………I suspect he might quote the “oodles of data” his other cabinet colleagues often refer to. These “politicians” are all nefarious frauds and work on behalf of the globalist elite. The Irish people must wake up to this harsh reality and remove themselves from Netflix, the premier league, pints and bullshit and engage in the peaceful process of removing the incumbent political class. The result of the continuations of the political status quo will be continued mass immigration, increased taxes, digital ids, digital vaccine passports, digital currencies, social credit scores, carbon passports and a full spectrum China like digital surveillance State. Future generations will be sold into the globalist digital surveillance enslavement meat grinder all due to the intellectual and soulless selfishness and laziness of this generation . WAKE UP EIRE

From the point of view of FFG/Green the far right are the threat but as they are now describing half the country as far right it no longer works as before

Very interesting documentary on Black Lives Matter can be viewed by googling or entering into Youtube “the fall of minneapolis”. Here also is the link to you tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFPi3EigjFA&t=22s It’s very relevant given the defunding of police by Varadkar’s crowd – basically suggests the murder of George Floyd was simply death from “Wooden chest” , respiratory failure induced by fentanyl overdose. Rest in Peace George anyhow I should add.

Would you support a decision by Ireland to copy the UK's "Rwanda Plan", under which asylum seekers are sent to the safe - but third world - African country instead of being allowed to remain here?
