A date has been set for the trial of Muhammed Al Shaker Al Tamimi (35).
Al Tamimi, of Lower William Street, New Ross, Wexford is accused of the murder of his eight year old daughter, Malika Al Kattib, and of an attempt to murder the girl’s mother Aisha Al Kattib at the same address.
8-year old Malika Al Kattib died after being allegedly stabbed by her father in the neck on Sunday night. Her mother, Aisha Al Kattib, was also injured in the incident which took place in December last year.
Mr. Justice Paul McDermott, sitting at the Central Criminal Court heard an application for the defence for a psychological report to be prepared in respect of the accused.
This process is to “commence immediately”, the court heard.
Advising counsel to “Take what course you think is appropriate,” Justice McDermott set a trial start date for the 12th of January 2026 to be heard in Waterford.
A case management hearing is to take place on the 10th of October next.
