As readers will be aware, there is much debate over the allocation of social housing, with recent focus on the breakdown by nationality of persons who are on the Dublin County Council waiting lists.
Information supplied to Councillor Gavin Pepper by Dublin City Council included the fact that 42% of the 15,000 on the list were of other than Irish nationality. The information also showed a large increase in the number of acceptances by non-Irish households, which stood at just under one third in 2025.
