While mainstream media does an excellent job in tracking down, photographing, providing the names and addresses and even places of employment of persons involved in protests around IPAS centres it is remarkably coy in doing the same regarding persons who present as spokespersons for Team Pollyanna.
While the term “local resident” or even “local community” is often a dog whistle when used by persons protesting against the placement of IPAS centres – conjuring up images of menace and non-diversity – it is applied uncritically to the other side.
