Last week, I wrote that the DPP owed the Irish people an explanation after charges brought against an asylum seeker in regard to alleged sexual assaults on a 10-year-old girl in Citywest last year were unexpectedly dropped.
Given that the case caused enormous public disquiet – and led to both peaceful protest and public disorder – it is unacceptable that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has remained silent since it decided to drop the charges.
