PM: “Act of justice for the vaccinated”
Now, of course, just because something becomes Government policy, that does not mean it becomes easy to implement overnight.
it’s a reasonable assumption, at this point, that these vaccines will amount to a transitory, stop-gap solution
We urgently need a national discussion about this which is cool, calm, balanced, and informative. There does not, at present, seem to be any prospect of us getting one.
But the conclusion is still inescapable to anybody with eyes to see: We’re in this mess in part because the vaccines are not what they were advertised to be.
Any responsible leader, writer, or activist, observing this, should be, in the words of William F. Buckley, “standing athwart history, yelling stop”.
Tóibín: policy not working
If you’re one of the unjabbed, and awaiting a similar ruling from an Irish court, my advice is to settle in for the very long haul, unfortunately.
The real policy is that you will get vaccinated, or we will make your life a hollow shell of the life you could lead, once you get your jab.
Politicians no longer have to accept the blame for the state of the health service, and can transfer it onto the public instead.
with cases rising, and politicians being required to be seen to do something, anything, on the matter, “schools are safe” is out the window, and “vaccinate the children” is in.
