Pandering to your audience might be good for you, as a media outlet. But it’s almost always in the worst interests of the audience itself.
This is a story that you’re going to hear a lot about, even if the rest of the Irish media refuse to talk about it until they are absolutely forced to do so.
But it is fairly obvious that if the likes of Pence or DeSantis want to beat him for the nomination, they cannot continue to rush to his defence every time he gets into trouble.
If Republican voters were simply choosing on policy, then the choice would be relatively clear.
