In the months leading up to the local and European elections, the drumbeat of criticism directed at Sinn Fein from many of its former supporters on the nationalist wing of Irish politics was relentless: You let us down on immigration, you let us down on the family and care referendums, and you are largely indistinguishable from the Government you were supposed to oppose. At the time, Sinn Fein rejected these criticisms roundly. Over the weekend, it admitted openly that those criticisms were not only fair, but entirely correct. Here’s Mary Lou:
