As several readers pointed out in response to my article yesterday on work permits, there is a whole other cohort of people from overseas who can attain limited residency in the Irish state and work without either themselves or their employer having to apply for any permission under the existing labour legislation.
They are students who have been granted a Stamp 2 visa, as well as English language students not all of whom are granted a Stamp 2.
