On Leo Rowsome’s birthday, a previously unissued recording of his piping

Famed piper, Leo Rowsome was born 5th April 1903. To mark his birthday, Na Píobairí Uileann are delighted to share a previously unissued recording of his piping.

They say:

“These two set dances, Rodney’s Glory and Bonaparte’s Retreat, were recorded by Leo Rowsome in April 1928.”

“The record was a test pressing and was never commercially released. 94 years after the recording was made, it is now publicly available for the first time through online archive here.”

“Special thanks to Helena Rowsome Grimes for sharing the record. Thanks also to Harry Bradshaw for transferring the record and completing the sound restoration work.”
