Gardaí say they are “carrying out enquiries into an allegation of theft from a premises in Dublin 4,” after National Party leader, Justin Barrett, alleged that a “considerable quantity of gold” has been ‘stolen’ from a vault controlled by the party.
Describing the alleged theft as a “traitorous act” against “the National Party and Ireland“, Barrett said the gold, which had been set aside as a financial buffer for the party in the event of financial distress, had been stolen on Tuesday last after the vault in which it was kept was allegedly emptied by now dismissed party officers.
According to Barrett, one of the officers “used the key in his possession to remove the Party Reserves,” which he said were “dearly gathered by the sacrifice of Party members and supporters, over many years,”
While stating that he believes the gold is “retrievable” Barrett said that multiple failed attempts to contact the two party officers involved left him with no option but to contact the Gardaí “as an absolute last resort” and that as a result a ‘criminal investigation’ is now underway.
“Whatever the motive of the two individuals I can only speculate and might be sued over such speculation’” adding that the act was “objectively despicable” and “traitorous both to the Party and insist as the Party is the last vanguard of the Irish Nation at an hour of deep distress, a traitorous act against Ireland,”
“A gangrenous limb cannot be accommodated only amputated,” he said.
