It’s not just that western civilisation has repeatedly dabbled in the shallow pools of cultural failure in the past sixty years, but it has more recently hurled itself into a shark-infested ocean of lethal toxins. Europe has made a speciality of smugly seeking new forms of self-destruction, as its native population plummets while its women are actively encouraged to cease having babies and TO JOIN THE WORKFORCE AND GET A REAL CAREER.
Self-destructiveness being its hallmark, the EU has chosen a president who, when she was German defence minister, ordered that the Bundeswehr’s tanks be rebuilt to accommodate pregnant drivers. Meanwhile on her watch, German soldiers undertook Arctic training exercises armed with broom-handles because they didn’t have enough rifles and not a single German U-boat could go U-. Naturally, with these accomplishments to her name she was duly appointed the EU President and then reappointed, but of course on neither occasion was she “elected”. Even Iran and Russia choose their heads of state more democratically.
