The apology secured from the Irish Mirror by former Fine Gael TD Maria Bailey – of “swing-gate” fame, is interesting on a number of levels. Reading a statement into the record of the High Court yesterday, a barrister for the Irish Mirror accepted the following:
“In its apology, the Irish Daily Mirror said in two articles published in 2019 the newspaper accused Maria Bailey of mounting a “dodgy” insurance claim and of “telling fibs” in relation to her injuries.
