A man who was found to be in possession of 276 videos of child abuse has been given a fully suspended sentence

He pleaded guilty to possession of child abuse material at his home in Killanarden, Tallaght in August 2022.
The Irish Independent reported that the videos “ranged in length from a few seconds to over half an hour, and the youngest victim depicted was a baby boy of six to 12 months.”
“The court heard that in this video, the baby boy was shown clearly distressed, tied to a makeshift bed, with his arms and legs bound.” it said.
Judge Orla Crowe said that 90% of the child abuse material found in Prizeman’s possession was of the most serious category of child pornography with some depicting the sexual abuse of babies and infants.
In May this year a Wicklow man received a fully suspended three year sentence for offences related to the production of child abuse material which he shared with a number of transgender individuals including convicted sex offender Bruno Binda De Souza.
Security guard Barry Nugent (34), of Church View, Arklow, Co Wicklow pleaded guilty to producing child abuse images which he shared in the form of text messages between January 2016 and June 2018.
Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court heard that Nugent had engaged in three conversations about the “sexual fantasies” of abusing minors with the transgender individuals with one exchange consisting of 424 messages where Nugent expressed that he would not go below teenagers.
Last October Gript reported that a Westmeath man was given a fully suspended sentence after being caught in possession of videos of the sexual abuse of babies.
Adrian Short – a 45-year-old ex-Irish Defence Forces non-commissioned officer – pleaded guilty to possessing 7 images and 14 videos of child abuse material.
Passing sentence, Judge Melanie Greally said that “the videos in particular contained extreme content of children as young as two years, which included sexual intercourse between children and adults.”
However, after taking into account what she viewed as mitigating factors, the judge decided to hand down a fully-suspended 16-month sentence.
