A man was arrested this morning on Parnell Street with eyewitnesses alleging, according to the Irish Mirror, that the man had brandished a knife and hit the sides of a school bus which had children on board.
The alleged incident took place outside the school where three small children and a care worker were attacked with a knife last November. The Irish Mirror reported that one of the children attacked in last November’s knife attack was on board the bus at the time.
The Mirror also described the suspect as “an Irish man”.
A Garda spokesperson told Gript that the arrest top place following “an incident this morning in the Parnell Square area of Dublin City Centre where alleged threatening behaviour was undertaken, a male (30s) has been arrested for alleged offences under the Firearms and Offences Weapons Act.
“The male is currently in custody in a Dublin City Centre Garda Station.” Gardaí said.
In response to this morning’s incident Gardaí say there were “no injuries reported as a result of this incident.”
“An Garda Síochána had been conducting regular patrols in this area and these patrols will continue.”
Gardaí say they are liaising with the local community and anyone impacted by the incident.
