Two people have died after suffering fatal injuries in a two-car collision in Co. Donegal.
The incident took place at around 11.50pm last night on the N56 at Kilmacrennan.
The driver (male, 70s) and passenger (female, 70s) in one of the cars suffered fatal injuries, while the driver of the second car, a woman (40s), was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Local diversions are currently in place, with the road closed overnight to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The examination is due to take place this morning.
109 people have died on Irish roads this year, according to garda figures.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
