Ostensibly, we’re meant to be delighted that asylum applications in the EU dropped by 11% last year compared to the year previous.
But when you look past the propaganda and spin, you’ll note that this reduction amounts to a negligible decline from 1.1 million to 1 million applications. Despite all the grandstanding and promises of European leaders getting “tough” on migration, we still had over a million newcomers last year alone through the asylum process. If you’re a European citizen concerned about uncontrolled immigration, these numbers won’t reassure you in the slightest.
