World Bank statistics show that the amount of money transferred in personal payments or remittances from Ireland by immigrants continues to rise. In 2023 this amounted to $2,318,304,160 or €2.16 billion at current exchange rates for all transfers.
That includes worldwide transfers, so a substantial part of it is being remitted to households in other EU member states, which include countries such as Poland, Romania and other eastern states from which many people have migrated to Ireland, mostly for reasons of work.
