Dungarvan Gardaí say that they have arrested a woman in relation to an alleged attempted sexual assault in the town last month.
WLR reports that “a Garda spokesperson says a female was detained as part of that investigation and subsequently released with a file being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions”.
The woman was arrested under Section 12 of the Criminal Law Act, 1976, which relates specifically to someone who either “knowingly makes a false report or statement tending to show that an offence has been committed”.
The woman has not been charged but a file has been sent to the DPP.
