A producer of the James Bond franchise has said that while the next James Bond won’t be a woman, the character could be played by someone who is gender “non-binary” – not identifying as male or female, and using “they/them” pronouns.
Barbara Broccoli, who controls the iconic series with her half-brother, made the comment on a recent episode of the “Girls On Film” podcast.
“I don’t think that we should be making films where women aDaniel re playing men,” Broccoli said.
“I think we should be making more films about women. I think Bond will be a man.”
Podcast host Anna Smith asked if perhaps one day Bond could be “non-binary.”
“Who knows?” Broccoli said.
“I mean, I think it’s open. We just have to find the right actor.”
Daniel Craig, who currently plays the character of James Bond, previously told Radio Times he doesn’t believe the n]ext Bond should be female.
“Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?” he said.
