Minister for Finance Michael McGrath’s final public act prior to being put forward as the state’s nominee for EU Commissioner was to launch a report on Monday that is focused on changing age demographics.
The report, Population Aging and the Public Finances in Ireland, is primarily focused on the shifting of the demographic towards older cohorts but it also provides an interesting insight into how the Irish state has accepted a radical change in the makeup of the population of the state as its default mode.
