An Garda Síochána has said that images appearing to show “an exchange of weapons” in Dublin did not involve real firearms.
Over a number of days, a video appearing to show three men, one with Arabic writing on his jacket, removing what appeared to be firearms from the back of a vehicle which was purported to have been attached to a mosque in Dublin circulated online.
In the background of the video, captured remotely, a broadcast of RTÉ’s Morning Ireland can be heard.
A Garda statement said that “An Garda Síochána has established that no illegal firearms were involved in this matter – these were replica (airsoft) guns”.
