At the end of January 2026, the first detransition medical malpractice lawsuit to reach trial in the USA [Fox Varian v. Kenneth Einhorn et al] concluded when a jury in a Westchester County Court awarded the plaintiff, Fox Varian, $2,000,000.
The jury found that the defendants—psychologist Kenneth Einhorn and surgeon Simon Chin— had “departed from the standard of care” in approving and performing a double mastectomy on Ms Varian when she was 16 years old.
